Camp Can Do is a camp designed for children who have been treated for serious burn injuries.
Established in 1997, Camp Can Do is co-sponsored by MUSC Children's Hospital Pediatric Burn Center and South Carolina's
firefighters. The camp is supported by the Burned Children's Fund. The goal of
Camp Can Do is to give children a fun, unforgettable summer camp experience and to help them realize
they "can do" anything.
Who can attend Camp Can Do?
Any child, between the ages of 6-17, who lives in South Carolina that has been treated for a serious burn injury.
Where is Camp Can Do?
Camp St. Christopher, a beautiful natural setting, located on Seabrook Island, South Carolina is the host
of Camp Can Do. Camp St. Christoper offers a fun-filled location with ocean front cabins.
Who staffs Camp Can Do?
Camp Can Do is staffed by a group of individuals dedicated to creating an unforgettable summer camp experience. Our
camp team includes firefighters, nurses, physicians, therapists, child life specialists, burn survivors and the
Camp St. Christopher staff.
What does Camp Can Do offer?
Camp Can Do builds self-esteem and provides a venue for children to develop friendships with
others who have experienced similar injuries. Fun-filled activities include canoeing, magic shows, cultural exhibits,
visits from local fire departments and emergency services professionals, arts and crafts, swimming, boat rides,
fishing, a karaoke dance party, relay games, and much, much more.
Why Camp Can Do?
Camp Can Do gives burned children a chance to bond with other children who have gone through a similar experience.
Camp Can Do is a setting where all children never have to worry about being "different."
How can I help with Camp Can Do?
Do you have a special talent or interest like woodworking, crafts, fishing, magic, singing,
water sports, etc? Come share your expertise with the children at camp. Help organize a
special event, like a boat ride, a theme dinner, or special entertainment for camp.
Organize a fund raiser, donate services or materials for camp, or give a monetary gift towards camp.
