J. Philip Saul, M.D. is the division director of the Children's Heart Center of South Carolina. Dr. Saul graduated magna cum laude from Duke University with a bachelor's degree in physics in 1978. After completing his undergraduate degree, Dr. Saul remained at Duke University where he received his medical degree in 1982. Following medical school, Dr. Saul went on to the Children's Hospital in Boston and completed his internship and residency in pediatrics. Dr. Saul furthered his training through a fellowship where he focused on cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology. Dr. Saul's major research interests are control system analysis of the heart and circulation, along with genetics of electrical and structural congenital heart disease. In addition to his clinical role, Dr. Saul has a number of administrative responsibilities, including vice-chair for clinical affairs of the department of pediatrics and medical director of MUSC Children's Hospital. Dr. Saul is involved in numerous professional societies including the International Scientific Organizing Committee, the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology, the International Society for Holter & Noninvasive Electrocardiology, the American Heart Association and is also a fellow in the American College of Cardiology. Among Dr. Saul's honors and awards include selection to the Society of Pediatric Research and "America's Top Pediatricians" by the Consumer Research Council.

Tim McQuinn, M.D. is an assistant professor of pediatrics in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit of The Children's Heart Center of South Carolina. Dr. McQuinn is also the adjunct associate professor for the department of cell biology and anatomy. Dr. McQuinn earned his bachelor's degree from Michigan State University in 1974 and went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Washington in 1979. Dr. McQuinn completed his postgraduate training at Tulane University School of Medicine where he was an intern, resident, and chief resident of pediatrics. Dr. McQuinn also completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology from Baylor College of Medicine from 1986-1990. Dr. McQuinn was awarded the clinician-scientist award from the American Heart Association and the Mitchell I. Rubin Research Award from the department of pediatrics from the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. McQuinn is involved in numerous professional societies including the American Heart Association Council on Cardiovascular Disease in the Young, the Society for Pediatric Research and the Society for Pediatric Cardiology Training Program Directors.

Girish Shirali, M.D. is the director of the echocardiology laboratory at the Children's Heart Center of South Carolina. Dr. Shirali earned his Bachelor of Medicine/ Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) from Seth G.S. Medical College in Bombay, India in 1983. Dr. Shirali's postgraduate training involved the study of pediatrics at the University of Bombay Affiliated Hospitals from 1984-1986 and the University of Texas Medical School from 1988-1991 and then the study of pediatric cardiology from Baylor College of Medicine from 1991-1994. Dr. Shirali's research interests are fetal cardiology, telemedicine and 3-D echocardiography. Dr. Shirali is also involved in numerous professional societies including the American College of Cardiology Committee on Congenital Heart Disease and Pediatric Cardiology, along with the Society of Pediatric Echocardiography. Dr. Shirali was awarded the Walter E. Macpherson Society Student-Faculty Clinical Research Award and was selected for the Strathmore's "Who's Who" and the "America's Top Pediatricians" by the Consumer Research Council.

Andrew Atz, M.D. is the director of the cardiac intensive care unit at the Children's Heart Center of South Carolina. Dr. Atz earned his bachelor's degree and medical degree from the University of Florida. Dr. Atz completed his postdoctoral training from 1989-1990. His internship and residency involved work in pediatrics with Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Atz's fellowships were with the Children's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts in the area of cardiology and then at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts in the area of pediatrics. Dr. Atz is also involved in numerous medical societies including the American College of Cardiology, Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society and the South Carolina Medical Association. Dr. Atz was awarded the University of Florida College of Medicine Alumni Scholarship for Academic Excellence and the Charles A. Janeway Scholarship in Child Health Research. Dr. Atz was also selected for "Best Doctors in America" by Medical University of South Carolina.

Scott Bradley, M.D. is an assistant professor of surgery in the Cardiothoracic Surgery department at The Children's Heart Center of South Carolina. Dr. Bradley graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University with a bachelor's degree in1980. After completing his undergraduate degree, Dr. Bradley attended the Harvard Medical School/Harvard-Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) division of health sciences and technology (HST) program where he received his medical degree in 1985. Dr. Bradley completed his postdoctoral training from 1985-1995. Dr. Bradley completed two residencies, one as a general surgery resident at Massachusetts General Hospital and the other as a cardiothoracic surgery resident at the University of Michigan. Dr. Bradley was also a pediatric cardiac surgery fellow at the University of Michigan in Ann Harbor and a research fellow in fetal and cardiovascular surgery at the University of California in San Francisco. In addition to his education and training, Dr. Bradley is involved in numerous professional societies including the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, Society of Thoracic Surgeons and Charleston County Medical Society. Dr. Bradley also has a number of extramural professional activities, including program committee American Association for Thoracic Surgery and grant reviewer for The Children's Heart Foundation. Among Dr. Bradley's honors and awards are: Summa cum laude at Harvard University and John Harvard Scholarships.

Varsha Bandisode, M.D. is the director of the pediatric cardiac catheterization lab, the pediatric cardiology inpatient floor and the pediatric cardiology same-day observation unit. Dr. Bandisode earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia in 1991. After completing her undergraduate degree, Dr. Bandisode attended Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia where she received her medical degree in 1995. Following medical school, Dr. Bandisode went on Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida and completed her internship and residency in pediatrics. Dr. Bandisode completed two fellowships at the Medical University of South Carolina, one in pediatric cardiology and one in pediatric interventional cardiology. In addition to her education and training, Dr. Bandisode is involved in numerous professional societies including the American College of Cardiology, the South Carolina Medical Society, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.

Fred A. Crawford, Jr., M.D. is the chairman of surgery for the Children's Heart Center of South Carolina. Dr. Crawford graduated from Duke University with a bachelor's degree in 1963. After completing his undergraduate degree, Dr. Crawford remained at Duke University to earn his medical degree and graduated first in his class in 1967. Following medical school, Dr. Crawford completed his internship and residencies in pediatric surgery at the Duke University Medical Center. In addition to his clinical role, Dr. Crawford has a number of administrative responsibilities at MUSC, including chief of the division of cardiothoracic surgery and senior associate dean for finance of the college of medicine. Dr. Crawford is involved in numerous professional societies including the Thoracic Surgery Foundation for Research and Education, the American College of Cardiology and the World Heart Foundation. Among Dr. Crawford's honors and awards include Distinguished Alumnus Award from Duke University School of Medicine and selection to "The Country's Best Heart Doctors" by Good Housekeeping.
