Neurology
At MUSC Children’s Hospital, the Division of Pediatric Neurology provides inpatient and outpatient consultative services for children with a wide variety of neurologic conditions. Our physicians and nurse practitioners have expertise in the diagnosis and management of brain malformations, concussions, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, epilepsy, headache, metabolic/mitochondrial disorders, movement disorders, neuromuscular disorders, sleep disorders and a number of other conditions. Moreover, we are dedicated to providing multidisciplinary, comprehensive, compassionate care that is among the best in the region. To do so, we work closely with our colleagues in pediatrics and other specialties, as well as physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and early interventionists.
Research in the division includes an industry-sponsored trial of EPI-743 to treat children with terminal stage mitochondrial disorders; a trial examining how music/auditory stimulation affects brainwave (EEG) recordings; and trials of medications for the treatment of Tourette syndrome.
