College of Charleston Students "Go Wild for the Life of a Child"

With less than two weeks until the First Annual College of Charleston "Dance Marathon", students are beginning to "Go Wild for the Life of a Child". On February 9, 2007 at 7 p.m., hundreds of College of Charleston students will gather in Charleston's Kresse Arena and dance all night for a great cause-- Medical University of South Carolina's Children's Hospital.

"Dance Marathon" is a student-coordinated fundraiser where students have pledged their commitment to the children and families that are helped by MUSC Children's Hospital. Each participant is asked to raise $150 and in return has vowed to stay up for 15 hours filled with dancing, food, music and other entertainment. They will not sit or sleep!

"As students, we consider it a privilege to support the children of the city we've all grown to love so much. Supporting College of Charleston's Dance Marathon is an easy and important way to help children receive exceptional care, and, ultimately, lead happy and healthy lives." said Adam Grinell, Executive Director of Dance Marathon 2007.

Since its founding in 1987, MUSC Children's Hospital is now ranked as one of the top pediatric facilities in the country. The Charles P. Darby Children's Research Institute, opened in February of 2005, houses 150 state of the art laboratories where researchers look for the prevention, treatment and cures for illnesses like diabetes, sickle cell and cancer. The Institute is one of 15 in the country and the only research center for children in the Carolinas. Donations can be made at the Higdon Student Leadership Center on College of Charleston's campus at 69 Coming Street, or by calling the office at (843) 953-6356.
