Charleston has been selected to be one of five cities to host the Sampras vs. Courier Miracle Match Tour. Proceeds from this event will benefit the MUSC Children's Hospital. A tennis clinic with the players will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Sponsorship opportunities are still available which include a special sponsor/VIP meet and greet prior to the match. Celebrity doubles begin at 3 p.m. followed by the featured match. The other cities included in the tour are Fresno, California (Oct. 25), Anaheim, California (Oct. 28), Portland, Oregon (Nov. 9) and Spokane, Washington (Nov. 11).
ABOUT THE MIRACLE MATCH FOUNDATION
The Miracle Match Foundation was started with a dream...the dream that anyone needing a bone marrow transplant could get a "perfect match" or families needing a place to stay during treatment wouldn't have to worry about the cost of housing and with funding assistance through the Foundation, a cure could ultimately be attained. By funding donor registrations, family hospitality suites during treatment and research facilities, the Miracle Match Foundation's work is never done. To build awareness, Bill Przybysz, the founder and tennis professional developed the idea of "Miracle Matches". In February 1999, Przybysz played his first Miracle Match against John McEnroe.
ABOUT THE SAMPRAS VS. COURIER MIRACLE MATCH TOUR
With the Sampras vs. Courier Miracle Match Tour, tennis fans may enjoy the sport and watch their favorite players, while supporting the goals of The Miracle Match Foundation. Sampras, a fourteen-time grand slam champion, and Courier, a holder of four grand slam titles, are the latest tennis legends to lend their participation to this cause.
