Residents
Welcome new residents!
Below are the 2005-2008 residents and the school where they trained:
PL-1
Dr. Key had the opportunity to interact with some of the second year residents while attending the AAP meeting in
Asheville, North Carolina. This makes the third year our residents have joined peers from around the state to learn about the
AAP and attend CME presentations. Our second year residents along with the respective training school include:
PL-2
The last few years have seen significant changes in the development of our residency program. Our endeavor has been to
create an atmosphere promoting a strong training initiative involving both faculty and students, each actively
participating and sharing in its accomplishments. Likewise, we intend to provide a forum to discuss and learn from
weaknesses in order to facilitate growth. Our Fall Summit, focusing on education, met this criterion in meeting the
challenge imposed by newly outlined duty hours. We are proud of our third and fourth year residents, especially in
observing their role in teaching the interns and supervising our junior residents. They have certainly raised the bar
of expectations for the next cycle to fulfill. This provides a strong path toward a vibrant program. Our third year
residents, along with their respective training school, include:
PL-3
As many of you know, our department has had two fourth year residents to carry the chief resident "torch".
This year we chose only one, Andy Little. He has been aided by two third-year chief residents - Amy Jones and Amy Huggins.
This is a different model presenting changes to our structured program and we will review its strengths and weaknesses as we plan for the next cycle.
PL-4
A few years ago, the Med/Peds began with the urging of Dr. Charles Darby. Direction of the endeavor was given to Drs. Janice Key
and Tammy Wolfman. Now under the direction of Drs. Key and Dannah Wray (Medicine-Infectious Diseases), the program consistently
produces fabulous residents while successfully generating quality physicians. Recently, Mark Goldblatt, MD, was voted Outstanding
Teacher and Jessie Roach, MD, was chosen to be the chief resident for the Department of Medicine.
