Letter From Our Chair

Dear faculty, Children's Hospital staff and other friends,

Greetings from Hawaii! This has been a magical meeting at the PAS with our residents participating in the Association of Pediatric Program Directors (APPD) and the Pediatric Academy Society (PAS) meeting with presentations and posters. I have been so proud of the way they are approaching these presentations in such a professional manner. When we started the Evidence-Based Medicine program, created and fostered Dr. Surresh and Dr. Johnson, we found a great resource. Laura Cousineau began coming to our morning reports at our invitation. It was clear that she was a true expert on searching the web. We are extremely lucky to have 30 percent of her time to help us to teach and develop true EBM program. Throughout the last three years, we have had a true sea change, moving from reluctance to undertake research projects during residency, to embracing the concept that research is part of practice-based learning and health research.

There are many people who have been working from the beginning in precepting and more who have helped. I would like thank all of the preceptors, the course professors, and David Roof for helping us to find the funding to springboard this project. I thank all of our faculty, nurses, and residents who have made this a success. You are all putting MUSC on the map. This is truly a wonderful time to learn and to teach. Thank you all. Let's continue to develop a collegial atmosphere to help our learners, our faculty, and our patients--our number one customer group.

Dr. Lyndon Key Sincerely,
Dr. Key's Signature
