April 2009
Dear faculty, Children's Hospital staff and other friends,
During the last month, we have seen heroic amounts of work completed that has allowed us to continue to improve our services and to provide the best care possible for the children of South Carolina. While we've certainly experienced a difficult reality check with the recent budget cuts and condition of our economy, we have also had an opportunity to do more than ever before. Together, we have tightened our belts and began working even harder to generate extra revenue to keep things running smoothly at MUSC Children's Hospital.
Through it all, the Children's Hospital Fund is continuing to step up to the plate by putting on many exciting fundraisers such as the Stiletto Stampede where men and women will wear high heels (three inches or more!) and run 100 yards. At the Fashion Week event before the Stampede, Wayne Newton will be coming to Charleston to serenade Charleston's fashion elite. Mary Norton has orchestrated this delightful program on Friday, March 27. Please visit www.catwalkforkids.com to learn more and to purchase tickets.
The slowdown in the economy has not slowed down the minds of those wonderful people who have been thinking overtime to dream up the events that will help us to help the Children's Hospital Fund. Thanks to all of the people who have put together the Dance Marathon, Beards for Babies, Stiletto Stampede, Fashion Week Festivities, and the Food and Wine Festival. We appreciate your support, creativity, and hard work. And thanks to all who work in the hospital, the department, and at the Darby Children's Research Institute. We are grateful to everyone who has funded, conducted and supported the important research that is related the health of children.
