Pediatric Nutrition Services : Conditions We Treat
The pediatric dietitians will provide a service to any patient in the children’s hospital who is referred for services or that is screened at nutritional risk. In addition, the pediatric dietitians provide services to the outpatient clinics for these same conditions. This allows the dietitians to continually follow and assess the patients; therefore, providing a continuum of care throughout their services. Any condition that affects nutritional status can be followed by the dietitian, but some common conditions followed by the dietitians are:
- Diabetes
- Cystic fibrosis
- Failure to thrive
- Prematurity
- Obesity
- Renal disease
- Cancer
- Heart disease
- Epilepsy
- Gastrointestinal disorders
- Cerebral palsy
- Eating disorders
- Food allergies
- Specialized diets
