The MUSC Department of Pediatrics curriculum utilizes both structured daily educational experiences with directed self-learning to help our residents attain their educational goals. Didactic sessions are organized in such a way as to provide a wide breadth of knowledge without sacrificing individualized mentorship.
Morning Report occurs every Monday through Wednesday and is attended by medical students, residents, and faculty. Though the session is resident-driven, it is an open forum such that all attendants are encouraged to participate, express their opinions, and share their knowledge. Cases are typically decided in advance. Chief Residents prepare a short summary slideshow highlighting the disease, its symptoms, management, etc and is presented at the conclusion of the case presentation. Further, the program utilizes a campus "wiki" site to archive each case presentation, the summary slideshow, references, and noteworthy commentary made by faculty, attendants, and guests for residents to review.
