Ronald McDonald Family Room
The Ronald McDonald Family Room is located on the 7th floor of the Children's Hospital, room 735. Coffee and
snacks are available as well as the comfort of a living room environment for parents and families to enjoy.
The room also offers a shower for use by parents of patients who are in NNICU, PICU, SCN and PCICU. The family
room is open from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. daily.
Ronald McDonald House
The Ronald McDonald House serves as a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment
at Charleston area hospitals. To qualify, parents must be over 18 years of age, live more than 25 miles away and have
a child 18 or under receiving treatment at a local medical facility. For more information or to be placed on a waiting
list, please call (843) 723-7957 or contact your hospital social worker, doctor's clinic, nurse or care manager for a referral.
Smoking
Smoking is not permitted inside any area of the Medical Center. Please use the designated smoking areas in the horseshoe
are outside of the Medical Center.
Cell Phones
Cell phones are not permitted in any patient care area or unit.
Waiting Areas
Visitor waiting rooms are located on the 7th floor in room 735, on the 8th floor in room 843 and on the 4th floor of the
main hospital in the ICU. Room 776 on the 7th floor is reserved for families needing a quiet and peaceful place; the
room has chairs/sleepers for those needing some rest.
Getwell Network
The Getwell Network enables patients and families to gain anytime access to an array of services in including education,
entertainment and Internet resources - all geared toward empowering patients and families during a hospital stay. Please
ask unit staff for more information.
Laundry Room
Located on the 7th floor, this service is provided for Children's Hospital families. Please ask your unit staff for a code
to the laundry room and laundry detergent.
Public Restrooms
Public restrooms are located on the middle of the hallway of both the 7th and 8th floors of the Children's Hospital.
Restrooms are also located on the 4th floor in the PCICU waiting room, 5th floor in the North Tower and 6th floor in
the main corridor.
