It helps to take a guided tour through the surgical areas and the hospital to see the areas and meet the people. The tour helps make the hospital and medical experience more familiar and friendly for the patient and their family. During these tours, age-specific information and suggestions for coping will be offered. Tours are available for any patient scheduled for ambulatory (same day) or inpatient surgery. Tours are available by appointment. It is suggested that tours occur 1-3 days prior to surgery for children under the age of 6 and 5-7 days prior for children 6 and up. To schedule a pre-operative tour, call (843) 792-7065 or (843) 792-2466. Tours are provided by the MUSC Child Life department.
